Biography
Early life and education
Damla Sönmez was born on May 3, 1987, in Istanbul, Turkey. She grew up in the city that has long defined Turkish arts and culture, and her early inclination toward the stage led her to pursue formal training at two prestigious institutions: Mimar Sinan University’s State Conservatory, where she studied drama and stagecraft, and the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, where she deepened her understanding of European theatre and performance traditions. This dual formation — grounded in Turkish classicism and enriched by French artistry — gave Damla a distinctly literary and rigorous approach to acting. She also studied violin and piano alongside her dramatic training, reflecting the broad artistic curiosity that has always characterized her work.
