Biography
Alma Terzić is a Bosnian actress who has established herself as one of the most internationally visible performers to have emerged from the former Yugoslavia. Born in Zenica on July 11, 1987, she trained at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo and has gone on to work across Bosnian, Turkish and international productions with equal confidence.
Early life and education
Alma Terzić grew up in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and developed a passion for performance that led her to the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo — one of the region’s most rigorous training institutions. After completing her studies, she began working in both film and television, initially in the Bosnian market before crossing over into Turkish productions and ultimately into international films.
Her humanitarian work, supporting various charitable organisations and advocating for social causes, has also been a consistent part of her public identity. She is married to Turkish actor Murat Saraçoğlu.
Awards and recognition
Alma Terzić’s international profile received a significant boost when she was cast as Hana in Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) — a film about the Bosnian War that attracted global attention and was screened at major festivals. She followed this with Turkish television work, including a role as Brooke in Güllerin Savaşı (2014) and as Gül in Şeref Meselesi (2014–2015). Her Turkish career accelerated further with a key role as Ester Kira in Magnificent Century: Kösem (2016) and as the formidable Princess Sofia in Kuruluş: Osman (2019–2020). On the film side, she also appeared in the horror thriller The Maus (2017) and in Turkish Ice-Cream (2019) as Rose, the latter earning her a Golden Artemis Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her breadth of work across multiple languages and industries makes her one of the more genuinely international actors to have worked extensively in Turkish television.
