Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı

Sultan Mehmed II came to the throne young and under enormous pressure. The empire expected things of him he had not yet had the chance to prove, and his enemies — inside the palace and beyond it — were counting on him to fail. Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı follows his reign from its uncertain beginning through the conquests and consolidations that defined it, spending as much time on the political and human cost of empire-building as on the battles themselves.

TRT 1 has built this as a long-form historical epic — four seasons and counting, with the kind of production scale that the subject demands. Akın Akınözü leads the series in the role of Sultan Mehmed, bringing a combination of ambition and interior conflict that holds the show together across its considerable length. For viewers who came to Turkish historical drama through Diriliş: Ertuğrul or Alparslan, this is the natural continuation of that tradition.
