Organize İşler

Nezih is a small-time crook who accidentally stumbles into the world of organised crime in Istanbul. He is not smart enough to be dangerous and not careful enough to stay out of trouble — which makes him exactly the kind of character a comedy about the criminal underworld needs. Organize İşler follows his attempts to navigate a world that was never designed for someone like him.

Yılmaz Erdoğan wrote, directed, and starred in this film, and it became one of the most beloved Turkish comedies of its era. The script is sharp, the Istanbul it captures is specific and recognisable, and the characters feel like people rather than types. Released in 2005, it earned a sequel in 2019 — which is a reasonable measure of how much the original still means to people.
