Yasemin Ergene was born on 22 January 1985 in Hamburg, Germany. She trained at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center and studied public relations at Istanbul Bilgi University. She started acting in the early 2000s in Koçum Benim (2002) and Aşk Oyunu (2005).
Her best-known role is Ela Altındağ in the medical drama Doktorlar (2006 to 2008), for which she won the Magazine Journalists Association’s Most Successful Female Series Actress award in 2007. She also appeared in the films Vizontele Tuuba and Hırsız Var!, and in Mucize Doktor in 2019. She married the businessman İzzet Özilhan in 2011 and largely stepped back from acting; they divorced in 2025.
In 2026 she returned to television in Tuzlu Kahve as Elit İpekli.
