Early life and education
Cansu Dere was born on October 14, 1980, in Ankara, Turkey, and grew up in the capital before eventually settling in Istanbul. She pursued a degree in Archaeology at Istanbul University — an intellectually rigorous field that says something about the curiosity and depth she brings to her acting choices. In 2000, she entered the Miss Turkey Universe competition and won, representing Turkey on the international stage; she was unable to compete in the full Miss Universe pageant due to political restrictions between Turkey and Cyprus at the time. That chapter led naturally into a modeling career, and from modeling she transitioned into acting. She has a brother, Arda Dere, and has remained largely private about her personal life, preferring to let her screen work speak for itself.
Awards and recognition
Cansu Dere’s acting career produced a remarkable run of acclaimed performances. She became a household name with Sıla (2006–2008), then delivered one of her most celebrated roles as the captivating Eyşan in the crime masterpiece Ezel (2009–2011) — a series that remains among the most highly rated in Turkish television history at 8.6 on IMDb. She further expanded her range with a memorable appearance in Magnificent Century (2012–2013) as Firuze/Huymerya, and starred in the emotionally powerful Anne (2016–2017) before leading the hit drama Sadakatsiz (2020–2022) as Asya Yılmaz. She also appeared in Şahsiyet (2018), a critically celebrated crime mini-series. A private individual who has never married, she is widely regarded as one of the most intellectually compelling and consistently excellent actresses of her generation in Turkish television.
