Early life and education
Burcu Biricik was born on May 4, 1989, in Elmalı, a scenic district of Antalya province in southwestern Turkey. She grew up in the Aegean-influenced culture of the region before moving toward the broader opportunities of the city. Her passion for performance first emerged when she won a beauty contest in high school, an experience that sharpened her confidence and pointed her toward the arts. She went on to study Theatre at Ege University’s prestigious theatre department, where disciplined stage training gave her the craft foundation to support the natural talent that was already evident. She has one brother, and the family’s close bonds have been a consistent source of grounding throughout her career. She married Emre Yetkin in 2016.
Awards and recognition
Burcu Biricik earned early recognition with her role in Şeref Meselesi (2011) and then delivered a breakthrough performance in Hayat Şarkısı (2015–2016), which won her Best Actress at the 23rd Sadri Alışık Awards in 2016 — one of Turkey’s most respected theatre and screen honors — and earned her recognition at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2017. Her Netflix original Fatma (2021), in which she carried virtually every scene as the title character, drew exceptional international attention. She continued with the acclaimed drama Camdaki Kız (2021–2023), receiving a Golden Butterfly nomination in 2022 for her work. By 2024 she was featured in Forbes Turkey’s Top 40 Celebrities Under 40, and in 2025 she received a nomination for Best Actress in an International Series at Canneseries — one of the most prestigious television honors available to a Turkish actress.
