Özgü Namal — full name Melahat Özgü Namal — was born on December 28, 1978, in Üsküdar, the historic Asian-side district of Istanbul. She trained at Istanbul University’s State Conservatory, one of Turkey’s most prestigious institutions for performing arts education, where she developed a technique grounded in classical theatrical tradition, emotional precision, and disciplined physical craft.
