Early life and education
Mahassine Merabet was born in 1999 in Morocco, where she grew up surrounded by North Africa’s rich storytelling and performing arts traditions. She studied arts and performance in Morocco, developing an early talent for screen work and a multilingual fluency that would later prove essential to her international career. With striking features and a natural ease in front of the camera, she built her profile first in her home country before making the bold decision to pursue opportunities in Turkey — one of the world’s most prolific producers of historical drama. She relocated to Istanbul, immersed herself in Turkish language and culture, and secured representation. She is one of the few Moroccan actresses to have played a major, recurring role in a prime-time Turkish series.
Awards and recognition
Mahassine Merabet’s international breakthrough came when she was cast as Princess Holofira in Kuruluş Osman (2023–2024), the massively popular historical epic based on the founding of the Ottoman Empire. The series commands one of the largest global audiences of any Turkish production, and her portrayal of the Byzantine princess quickly made her a recognized face across Turkey and the Arab world. Her performance attracted a dedicated fanbase, and by 2024 she was widely acknowledged as one of the most talked-about foreign actresses in Turkish entertainment. In 2025 she was confirmed as a cast member for Sultan Orhan, the anticipated sequel series, signaling that her trajectory in the Turkish industry was firmly established. She remains single and is a practicing Muslim.
