Biography
Early life and education
İpek Arkan was born in 1994 in Istanbul, Turkey. She grew up in Turkey’s most cosmopolitan city and developed an early interest in both modeling and the performing arts. After completing her studies in performing arts — she graduated from a Turkish institution offering a comprehensive program in stage and screen work — she began her career on the modeling circuit before transitioning into acting. The shift from runway to camera was natural: her tall, striking presence and ability to command a frame translated smoothly into character-driven performance. She received additional private coaching and accumulated early television credits before landing the role that would change her trajectory.
Awards and recognition
İpek Arkan’s career breakthrough came when she joined the cast of Çukur — one of Turkey’s most celebrated crime dramas (rated 8.6 on IMDb) — in 2020, earning a supporting role that introduced her to a wide domestic audience. Two years later she was cast in Kuruluş Osman (2022), the epic historical drama about the founding of the Ottoman state, playing the pivotal dual role of Princess Holofira and the later Mahperi Hatun. By 2023 her portrayal of Holofira/Mahperi Hatun was widely celebrated by both critics and fans across Turkey and the Arab world, and in 2024 she was firmly established as one of the prominent young stars of Turkish historical drama.
