Episode 5 Trailer: Orhan’s Era Starts and the Story Resets

There are moments in a warrior’s life when destiny doesn’t whisper— it roars. And in the second trailer of Episode 5, that roar belongs to one man: Orhan Bey. The seal of Ertuğrul Gazi glitters in his palm… Osman Bey stands behind him like a fading shadow… and for the first time in this entire series, Orhan’s rise is no longer a promise. It is a reality. But behind this triumphant image lies confusion—broken storylines, skipped conquests, and a narrative that feels as if the producer suddenly hit the reset button on the entire Kuruluş universe. What truth is the trailer hiding? What storm is building over Bursa, İznik, and the future of the Ottoman beylik? Let’s uncover everything.

A Sudden Shift in Power: The Reset of Kuruluş

Until now, Orhan’s path felt trapped—
buried under unnecessary politics, strange decisions, and a leadership crisis that history never recorded.

  • Shahinshah was forced into a position he never earned.

  • Orhan was repeatedly sidelined.

  • The story drifted far from the destiny of the Ottoman state.

But in just one trailer…
everything flips.

  • The seal changes hands.

  • Authority shifts.

  • The White-Bearded Elders return.

  • Orhan becomes the Naib — the acting ruler with full power.

This sudden rise is powerful…
but it exposes a deeper issue:

Why did the writers skip the victories that made Orhan worthy in the first place?

History shows a young commander earning respect through battles, raids, and strategy.
But the drama showed none of these foundations.

Which is why, in my view, this trailer is not just a teaser—
it’s a confession.

A confession that the story must finally return to its historical path…
or risk losing its soul entirely.

The Seal of Ertuğrul: The Moment That Shakes the series

The strongest moment in the trailer is crystal clear:

Osman Bey places the seal of Ertuğrul Gazi in Orhan’s hand.

Not symbolic.
Not temporary.
But a direct transfer of authority.

This seal represents:

  • military command

  • political power

  • the right to lead the tribe

  • the right to decide the fate of an entire state

Historically, this moment happened because Orhan earned it.
But in the series, it appears as if he receives it simply for being Osman’s son.

And that’s the twist.

Orhan’s early achievements—
the raids, the fortresses, the victories—
were never shown on screen.

So viewers feel he jumped from “prince”…
to “supreme commander”…
without the journey.

This trailer tries to repair that gap,
but the absence is still visible.

The Shahinshah Problem: A Storyline That Never Belonged

Now let’s address the biggest flaw so far:

Shahinshah Bey’s entire storyline.

Why was he made commander of Bursa?
Why was Orhan pushed aside for so long?
Why did the story pretend Shahinshah had earned a position he never historically held?

There was:

  • no betrayal

  • no downfall

  • no narrative build-up

  • no development

Yet suddenly, the entire power structure flips.

It feels as if the writers finally said:

“Enough. Return the story to Orhan before the ratings collapse.”

The sudden arrival of the White-Bearded Elders proves it.
Their support appears out of nowhere—
a clear sign of the producer trying to bring the series back on track.

Episode 5 now feels like a reset episode
— the point where the true Orhan era begins.

Orhan Moves Toward İznik — The Strategy Behind the Story

One of the most exciting hints in the trailer is Orhan’s movement toward İznik.

This city is not just Byzantine territory.
To the Turks, İznik holds deep meaning:

  • It was once the capital of the early Seljuk state

  • Suleyman Shah ruled there before the Crusades forced a retreat

  • It represents lost Turkish land, not foreign conquest

So when Orhan moves toward İznik:

He isn’t expanding randomly.
He is reclaiming a legacy.

Strategically, this is brilliant.

  • Bursa is under siege

  • Byzantine tunnels block supplies

  • Iznik is supporting Bursa directly

So Orhan sends a political message:

“If you threaten Bursa, I will take İznik.”

This is political chess—
and Orhan has finally begun playing like a true ruler.

The Mongol Fortress: A Subtle but Powerful Message

The trailer shows Orhan’s alps recapturing a fortress held by Mongols.
Orhan himself is not present. And that is perfect. A true ruler isn’t defined by swinging a sword everywhere—but by building warriors who win in his name.Abdul Rahman and his team take advantage of the Mongol leader’s absence and seize the fortress. Small moment? Maybe. Symbolically? Huge.

It proves Orhan now has:

  • structure

  • leadership

  • loyal commanders

  • functioning military authority

This is exactly how his rule should be portrayed.

Flavius: The Shadow Near Osman Bey

But the real danger hides in Söğüt. Flavius—burning with revenge for his father—lurks close to Osman himself. This sets up two possible outcomes:

Outcome 1 — Flavius injures Osman

A slow, weakening wound. The beginning of Osman Bey’s historical decline. This would align perfectly with:

  • the approach of Bursa’s conquest

  • Osman’s growing illness

  • Orhan’s rise to full leadership

Outcome 2 — A spiritual figure intervenes

Rumors speak of a new saint-like character entering the story.
Someone who may become the new spiritual guide. If he stops Flavius, the attack is postponed— but not erased.
