He pursued formal theatrical training at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History and Geography — specifically its Theatre Department — where he developed the grounded, technically precise approach to acting that has distinguished him across decades of work. He is married to actress Esen Vural, with whom he has one son.
Awards and recognition
Barış Falay’s career reached its most celebrated heights with Ezel (2009–2011), the critically acclaimed crime drama in which he played Ali Kırgız — a performance in a series rated 8.5 on IMDb, one of the highest-rated in Turkish television history. He built further on that momentum with Medcezir (2013–2015), the acclaimed Turkish adaptation of The O.C., playing Selim Serez, and then with his lead role as Harun Erguvan in Paramparça (2014–2017). His range across these very different series — a noir revenge thriller, a glossy family drama, and a crime saga — demonstrates the kind of adaptability that characterizes the most enduring Turkish screen actors. He has been consistently recognized by both critics and peers as a performer who brings genuine theatrical depth to every role, and his contributions to Turkish television and stage have made him one of the industry’s most respected figures.
